5 - 10
Minutes of practice a day. That's all we ask!
One new song each week, and five to ten minutes at the keyboard daily. It is designed to fit inside a young family's evening rather than take it over.
THE THREE LEVELS
Where every student is headed
Students are grouped by age and skill, and they play keyboards and bells at all three levels from day one.
1
Melody
Learning to play the right hand with correct fingering, and building the habits everything else rests on.
2
Harmony
Learning to play hands separately, then starting to put them together.
3
Improvisation
Playing hands together and reading notes off the page.
THREE YEARS, THREE COLORS
Everyone moves up together
In any given year, the whole studio works from the same book at different levels of difficulty.
YEAR 1
Red
New songs and new material, at whatever level each student is working at.
YEAR 2
Yellow
Same idea, a new set of books, a new year of songs.
Why the color system matters
Because a student who spends a second year at the same level still gets brand new books and brand new songs. Nobody repeats anything. It is also wonderful for siblings, who can practice the same music together at their own levels.
YEAR 3
Blue
New books again. Everyone moves up together each year.
What else they pick up:
-
Singing and technique
-
Composition and theory
-
Self accompaniment
-
Playing together in a group
-
Classical music enjoyment
